Welcome to our praise and worship guide using the Psalms.
This guide is intended to help you spend a few minutes in worship on a daily basis. The worship activities for each day will take about 10 minutes, and are best done before your normal devotional time. May God richly bless you as you take time to reflect on who He is and what He’s doing in your life!
“Ascribe Power to God”
Read verses 1-4. Tell God how you rejoice today because He is on your side. Think about the specific benefits of being His child and tell Him how this brings you joy. Praise Him because of His love and thank Him for His protection. What does it mean to you, “His name is the Lord?” Tell Him this and exalt Him.
Read verses 5 and 6. Praise God because He is holy and just. Think about this and tell Him what it means to you. In what way has He come to you when you were fatherless, a widow, or lonely? In what way has He set you free? Tell Him, and thank Him.
Read verses 7-10. Praise God today because of His goodness. In what way has He led you in the past? Tell Him this and thank Him. In what way do you need some “showers of blessing” to refresh you in the “desert?” Tell Him this. Affirm to Him how you depend on Him, your Great Shepherd, to provide for you. Bring any specific personal need to Him now.
Read verses 19-20. Praise God because He is a gracious, saving God. Think about how He has borne your burdens; tell Him this and thank Him. How has He saved you, perhaps literally from death? Again, thank Him.
Read verses 32-35. Praise God because of His power and majesty. Tell Him how His power has helped you in the past, and thank Him for this. Tell Him how awesome He is as the God who gives strength to His people. In what way has He strengthened you to serve Him, particularly with your spiritual gifts. In what way do you need His strength and power today? Tell Him this.
