Welcome to our praise and worship guide using the Psalms.

This guide is intended to help you spend a few minutes in worship on a daily basis. The worship activities for each day will take about 10 minutes, and are best done before your normal devotional time. May God richly bless you as you take time to reflect on who He is and what He’s doing in your life!

Psalm 40

“I Delight to Do Your Will, O My God”

Day 1

Read verses 1-3: Praise God today because He is merciful. How has He lifted you out of a miry bog set your feet in a secure place? Tell Him this and thank Him. In what way do you feel “bogged” down? Ask Him for His help. How have you seen and heard of God’s faithfulness? Let this help you trust Him.

Day 2

Read verses 4-5: Thank the Lord today for His specific blessings to you be-cause of your commitment to Him. List some of the “wondrous deeds” the Lord has done in your life, and tell Him how no one can compare to Him. Affirm to the Lord your desire to continue following Him, and to not go astray.

Day 3

Read verses 6-10: Praise God today for His steadfast love and faithfulness. Tell how much you want to do His will. Ask Him to make clear to you how He wants you to serve Him, especially in any area that is confusing to you right now. Confess any area where you may be refusing to obey Him. Ask Him to show you opportunities to speak about Him and encourage others.

Day 4

Read verses 11-14: Praise God for His mercy today. Pray verses 11-12 to the Lord; ask Him to reveal any areas of your life where sin has overtaken you. Con-fess your sin as He prompts you. Who or what are your enemies? Ask the Lord to deliver and help you in these specific areas.

Day 5

Read verses 16-17: Tell the Lord how glad you are in Him; say “Great is the Lord” to Him. Tell Him specifically how you have seen His concern for you in your poor and needy condition and thank Him. Ask Him for His help and deliv-erance in any specific situation you might be facing. Celebrate Him today.
