Welcome to our praise and worship guide using the Psalms.
This guide is intended to help you spend a few minutes in worship on a daily basis. The worship activities for each day will take about 10 minutes, and are best done before your normal devotional time. May God richly bless you as you take time to reflect on who He is and what He’s doing in your life!
Psalm 34
Day 1
Read verses 1-3. What do you have to praise God about today? Do this. These verses talk about extolling or testifying to God’s greatness. Think of a person who is afflicted and how you might “boast” about God to him or her. Ask the HolySpirit to uncover areas of arrogance in your life that you need to turn from.
Day 2
Read verses 4-7. How has the Lord answered your prayers recently? Tell Him this and thank Him. How has the Lord delivered you from your fears, saved you and encamped around you in your poverty. Again, tell Him this, and thank Him. Ask Him today to give you a fresh vision of who He is.
Day 3
Read verses 8-10. In what way has the Lord shown His goodness to you recently? Tell Him about this. Praise Him for His goodness and thank Him for the specific ways He’s shown this to you. Affirm to Him today your desire to fear Him and seek Him more devotedly. Again, ask him for a fresh vision of Himself.
Day 4
Read verses 15-22. Praise God today because of His justice. Think about the righteous people who have influenced you. What specifically impressed you about their lives? Thank God for bringing them into your life to mentor you.
Day 5
Praise God today because of His mercy and grace toward you in Christ Jesus. What promises in this Psalm speak to you most? Choose one to use as your “verse of the year” for 2019
