Welcome to our praise and worship guide using the Psalms. This guide is intended to help you spend a few minutes in worship on a daily basis. The worship activities for each day will take about 10 minutes, and are best done before your normal devotional time. May God richly bless you as you take time to reflect on who He is and what He’s doing in your life!
Read verses 1 and 2. Praise God because He is your shelter, refuge and fortress. Think about what it means specifically for you to abide in the shadow of the Almighty. Thank Him, and tell Him how awed you are that the Almighty God is your shelter. Tell Him how you are determined to trust Him more.
Read verses 3-8. What is it that terrifies you in the night, and makes you fearful during the day. Admit your fears to God. Picture yourself protected under His wings. Rest for a while in that place. Invite His Spirit to move into your areas of fear; affirm to Him your decision to live as if these verses are true.
Read verses 9-10. Thank God for the protection that you have in the Most High. Tell Him how the name “Most High” fills you with confidence. Tell the Lord how you want to make Him your dwelling place. Affirm to Him that you no longer want to dwell at a distance, but in His presence. As you decide to do this, tell the Lord how you desire to rest in Him.
Read verses 11-13. These verses are prophetic, and refer to Jesus. Thank the Lord Jesus for His willingness to submit to the will of the Father, even to the point of death. Tell Him how His example of resting in God even in His darkest hour is meaningful for you. Thank Him for the rest He has purchased for you.
Read verses 14-16. Praise God again because of His compassion and faithfulness toward you. Tell Him how these promises fill you with faith and trust. Affirm to God again that you want to live as one who “knows” His name.
