Welcome to our praise and worship guide using the Psalms. This guide is intended to help you spend a few minutes in worship on a daily basis. The worship activities for each day will take about 10 minutes, and are best done before your normal devotional time. May God richly bless you as you take time to reflect on who He is and what He’s doing in your life!
Psalm 46
“We Will Not Fear Though the Earth Gives Way”
Day 1
Read verses 1-3. Praise God today because of His strength. Think of specific times He has shown His strength in your life, and thank Him. Affirm to Him that your trust is in Him, because He is your refuge. What fears do you have in your heart today? Ask Him to increase your faith so that you will not fear.
Day 2
Read verses 4-5. In these verses God’s grace (the goodness He promises us) ispictured as a river. Thank Him for His grace in your life that has made you glad; be specific. Praise God for His presence among His people, and in your heart. What do you need God’s help with in your life? Cry out to Him for this today.
Day 3
Read verses 6-7. Praise God today for His great power and sovereignty over the kingdoms of the world. What gives you distress about the world we live in today? Tell the Lord this. Praise Him because He is with us. Ask Him to help you take refuge in Him in an increasingly hostile and unstable world.
Day 4
Read verses 8-9. Praise God today because He is a God of peace and justice. Tell Him how you look forward to the day when He will make everything right, and peace will reign. Cry out to Him about a specific injustice in our world: ask for boldness to oppose this injustice; ask Him to stretch out His hand against it.
Day 5
Read verses 10-11. Praise God because He is exalted in His power, because He is with us, and because He is a fortress for us. In what area of your life do youneed to take all these things to heart, have faith, and simply “be still.” Ask God for “stillness” in this area; ask Him to show you what it means that He is God.
